IG features
INSTAGRAM is where it all started, and continues to be a huge part of seniorMUSE!!! Use hashtag #seniorMUSE or tag us on IG posts for feature consideration for your high school seniors. We also have a college page for those seniors as well! Use hashtag #seniorMUSE_college for all your college images. We must be tagged to consider for feature, as this is how we are given permission to share your work!! … read below to see where being featured that can take you!!!
Feature TIPS:
Post OFTEN and be PATIENT (We are hashtagged in hundreds of images a day! Many times good images get passed over because the images around it simply stand out more. We have found images weeks after being posted that jump out after IG changes up the order in which they provide the images. (the recent tab is not in true recent order, so often times we don’t see images the day posted…. gotta love those algorithms).
Minimize Logos - Images with large logos tend to get passed over as we want to feature your images not your logo.
Image Quality - Be sure you are posting images that have your subject in focus (especially eyes if close up, you don’t want soft eyes and sharp hands).
Things that catch our eye are: great color, posing, emotion, composition, movement, styling, locations and lighting.
Posts with overlapping images/slides tend to be passed over as me feature one single image, this is due to our ICON awards.
features can lead to ICON images….
These are images we feature on IG that receive 100 or more LIKEs from you all, our followers. So you guys choose these images by simply double tapping images you like! ICON images are the only images we feature on our website and our public FB page. ICON images are also ensured publication in our ANNUAL ICON ONLY MAGAZINE… THE BEST OF 20__! (provided the photographer submits the image to us.) If you are awarded ICON status on an image YOU NEED TO SUBMIT those images…. they are the only image submissions with NO CHARGE, as it is an earned entry! ICON notifications are sent out every couple of weeks via IG messages, with the below badge, instructions and an image number that must be included and the link to SUBMIT your ICON images for publication!! Be sure to SHARE the badge provided, this is FREE MARKETING!
MAGAZINES
We publish LOTs of Magazines each year for you all!
We publish 4 QTRLY MAGAZINEs each year that are open to ALL Photographers (schedule is below).
The quarterly MAGAZINEs are Photographer’s Choice MAGAZINEs. No themes, so that you can always choose your BEST WORK to submit! Images should reflect the season in which they are being submitted/published. The more images you submit the better your odds are of getting published! There is no limit on the number of images you can submit, if you want to submit more than offered on the submission form, simply submit again! MAGAZINES are another GREAT WAY TO MARKET!
We publish an ANNUAL ICON ONLY MAGAZINE… THE BEST OF 20__! (provided the photographer submits the image(s) to us.) These images can be submitted any time during the year awarded with a deadline of 12/31 of that year.
We publish an ANNUAL 50 to FOLLOW… Photographers that should be on your radar! This contest is different than our quarterly magazines as we here at seniorMUSE don’t choose these, they are judge by industry leading photographers. Submissions open for this contest every year 12/1-1/5.
Our magazines are on a SCHEDULE so you can mark your calendar with every open submission for the year (or years to come) and never miss a submission again! This was done so NO ONE GETS LEFT OUT! In the beginning we heard so many times…. “I never saw any posts about open submissions….” despite our efforts to post it often yet not over post it, so this was our fix!

If you like to write or have written articles that are informational for senior PHOTOGRAPHERs and/or SENIORs, we want to publish them!! Articles could be about photography tips or trick (shooting wise or post processing), fashion, hair &/or makeup, business, or any other good stuff of interest to our followers!! Simply submit your articles under the MAGAZINE tab in the navigation bar.
We have a “Senior Corner” section to our magazine!
This is for seniors to tell readers about their senior year experiences, stories and/or adventures!! Seniors partner with their senior photographer to not only tell their stories in text but also with their senior images, so this is a partnership submission.

We also offer MENTORING, a monthly contests for PHOTOGRAPHER of the MONTH in our private FB group, and will soon have TEMPLATES available for photographers too!
